Paris offers an endless list of tempting appointments
We start our tour on the famous avenue Champs Elysées at the Arch of Triumph which was built in 1810 to celebrate the Emperor Napoleon’s victories in Europe. We then move to the Trocadero, a favourite place for pictures of the Eiffel Tower. In the distance one can distinguish Les Invalides which was built by Louis XIV as a hospital for his army veterans and today contains the prestigious Army museum. We then discover the Tuileries gardens and one of the world’s most extraordinary museums : The Louvre. Moving over to the left bank we see the Musée d’Orsay and the Latin Quarter with its famous cafés and special atmosphere.
We go on to admire the marvellous gothic architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral, and visit the pretty St Louis Island in the middle of the river Seine. We then travel north to see the Opera Garnier, home to famous ballets and classical concerts. Continuing up the hill to Montmartre we can enjoy another magnificent panoramic view of the city and explore the narrow streets where artists work in a colourful Place du Tertre next to the Sacré Cœur Basilica.
