  • GIVERNY

Be inspired by the beautiful, peaceful and colourful countryside around Giverny. Here you can browse through the gardens and see the same water lilies and flowers of Normandy that Monet painted with such great passion.

The nearby Museum of American Art invites visitors to see the impressionist landscapes painted by American artists in France during the time of Claude Monet.

  • BARBIZON / FONTAINEBLEAU

Drive along the river Loing and discover the inspiring countryside of impressionist painters of the Barbizon school. Fontainebleau, with its magnificent palace and unique “First Empire” antiques, is a masterpiece that reflects the height of Napoleon’s power.

  • VAUX LE VICOMTE

The original model for the palace at Versailles, Vaux le Vicomte is an unparalleled extravagance of decoration and style. The amazing gardens were designed by Le Nôtre who so impressed Louis the XIV that he was entrusted with the creation of Versailles’ gardens.

  • CHARTRES

The amazing stained-glass windows, with their unique colours, are the masterpieces in this beautiful cathedral. As well as being an important centre for Christian pilgrims, the cathedral has an extraordinary hand-carved pulpit, representing the Virgin Mary and the life of Jesus Christ.
